A hint of smokiness, cinnamon, cardamom, and a chocolaty velvet finish.
The Finca San Nicolas Estate is located in the famous Antigua region of Guatemala. Antigua is known for its rich volcanic soil, lots of sun, and cool nights. This region is surrounded by three volcanoes: Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango. San Nicolas coffee is grown under Gravilea shade tree being then protected from occasional frost. The lake Amatitlán can be also seen from the property.
22 miles from Guatemala City with the famous lake Amatitlan on the horizon, Don Batres and his family carefully oversee the working of the Finca San Nicolas coffee plantation. Don Batres and his family have owned this farm for 3 generations; coffee is their first love.
The farm grows beautiful coffee in the rich, famous soils of the Antigua region. 1 mile above sea level Finca San Nicolas nurtures coffee trees growing in fertile, volcanic soil made by the the volcanoes Agua, Fuego and Acatenango rising in the distance. The combination of cool nights, bright days and the shade of the Graviola tree makes for perfect growing conditions for one of the world’s finest coffees. Roasted correctly there is a hint of smokiness, cinnamon, cardamom, and a chocolaty velvet finish.
After many many tastings and trial roasting’s this shade grown strictly hard bean coffee was purchased directly from Don Batres’ Finca San Nicolas farm by Jittery Joe’s Coffee.
