Description

This small coffee producing region in northern Ethiopia is noted for its unique processing of the bean. Harrar beans are dry processed, meaning that the fruit pulp is left on the bean as the berries are dried in the sun, or picked off the ground as they fall from the trees. This dry process imparts more of the berry�s flavor in the bean and creates a very winey, and fruit taste (often described as blueberry). This process is more costly, but offers flavor and aroma not found anywhere else. The coffee is exceptionally bright and feels very light in the mouth despite its exceptionally balanced body. As Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee�s �discovery� and domestication, drinking Harrar also allows one to imagine the wild coffee enjoyed by Ethiopian goatherders and holy men.
